Barbershop HarmonyBarbershop harmony is 4-part acapella singing, with an emphasis on each of the 4 parts being a chord tone and the chord progression resolving around the circle of fifths. I sing with the Alexandria Harmonizers, an award winning local barbershop chorus in Alexandria Virginia (http://www.harmonizers.org).Tags A tag is a short part of a song, usually the end, or sometimes they can be just a very short song. Here are a couple that I recorded all 4 parts myself. Aleluia - Sounds like the end of a hymn
Lone prarie - a popular tag. My dear sweetheart - I wrote a computer program that automatically writes all 4 parts, and even some lyrics. This is one of them. Mee Ay Ya - This was written by Joe Liles as a tuning exercise.
Songs from Atlantic Harmony Brigade 2010 The following songs were recorded at the Atlantic Harmony Brigade Aug 21, 2010 using my portable recorder, so the quality isnt that great. At least it's stereo. The singing isn't perfect. And theres a lot of noise in the background, which is why guys try to find a quiet place to sing with a nice reverb, like stairwells and bathrooms. It sounded way better live than on the recording. I sang bass. Note that the guys in these recordings never sang these songs with each other before, and most had never even met each other before. Not too bad for a first time. Dinah -
These next 3 were Drew Fuller (tenor), Frank Fedarko (lead), Lynn Hineman (bass) and myself (bari). We are all (or were at one time) Harmonizers. We were in a little vestibule room at the entrance to the building and it had lots of echo and reverb that made the sounds louder. We had fun drawing out the chords as long as possible.
Other songs - I sing all 4 parts. Deuce - OK, its 4 part harmony, but not strictly barbershop.
Java - Barbershop arrangement, but I added drums (brushes) and old-timey guitar rhythm.
Tuning drills - Tuning drills to help sing in tune
